According to Vandamme and Coenye (2004), Wautersia eutropha is a later heterotypic synonym of Cupriavidus necator Makkar and Casida 1987 but this is in conflict with the rules of the International Code of Nomenclature of Prokaryotes. Vandamme P, Coenye T. Taxonomy of the genus Cupriavidus: a tale of lost and found. Int J Syst Evol Microbiol 2004; 54:2285-2289. Homotypic synonyms:Alcaligenes eutrophus, Ralstonia eutropha
